The 3 Books of Corum set of Collector’s Edition Giclée prints
‘IN THOSE DAYS there were oceans of light and cities in the skies and wild flying beasts of bronze. There were herds of crimson cattle that roared and were taller than castles. There were shrill, viridian things that haunted bleak rivers. It was a time of gods, manifesting themselves upon our world in all her aspects…’
Michael Moorcock’s Swords Trilogy consists of the first three books in the chronicles of Corum Jhaelen Irsei, one of the iconic manifestations of the Eternal Champion. One of the last of a decadent and decaying race, he finds himself locked in cosmic battle with three lords of Chaos – Arioch, Xiombarg and Mabelode the Faceless. The Corum series reveal Moorcock at his most wildly imaginative and baroque, and Bob Haberfield’s famous covers, commissioned by Mayflower Books in the early 1970s perfectly match the mood and texture of the novels. They portray the three Dukes of Hell as they manifest themselves in the books, in all their sensual and grotesque evil.
The 3 books of Corum set includes The Knight of the Swords, The Queen of the Swords and The King of the Swords.
The Collector’s Edition Giclée prints are an official reproduction, numbered Giclée, open print run from the Bob Haberfield Estate. Printed at the original size that they where painted by Bob, which is approximately A2. Printed on high quality Hahnemühle Matt Fibre 200gr Gamme Galerie paper.
These reproductions have been painstakingly colour-corrected by myself in conjunction with my printer, so that each print matches as closely as possible the colour of the original paintings. They have a generous white border around the print with a paper size of 59.4cm x 42 cm and a print size of 53cm x 38cm. So they fit into a standard A2 frame, thus eliminating the need for expensive custom made frames. Each print is quality controlled by myself, and printed on High quality paper. I then personally hand title and emboss them with the “Bob Haberfield Estate Original” stamp and sign them myself, giving each print a personal touch. Each print comes with a certificate of authenticity and is then wrap them in tissue paper and place them inside a plastic cover before popping them into a sturdy art tube to ensure they reach you in perfect condition.
The term Giclée, which is pronounced Zhee’Clay comes from the French word Gicleur which means ‘to spray’, refers to the printing process where the ink jet printer sprays the ink onto the paper resulting in higher resolution prints.
Giclée prints are created by wide format inkjet printers and are known for their longer life span. They’re resistant to smudging, sun or humidity damage. The inks themselves are pigment based rather than dye based inks, which are thus UV- resistant and stronger when the prints are handled.
Hahnemühle Matt Fibre 200gr Gamme Galerie paper, which is acid free, is known for its outstanding durability. A Giclée print is the combination of a high quality printer, high quality inks and high quality paper resulting in a print that not only looks sharper and more vivid than standard prints from a home printer but lasts for generations.
The Collectors Edition Giclée prints are a must have for the most discerning Moorcock fan.
